Hunter Douglas Duette Honeycomb Blinds: Making the Perfect Fit

Hunter Douglas Duette Honeycomb shades have an almost limitless assortment of colors and effectiveness in saving energy making them a popular preference for window treatments.  However, because the brackets holding the shades need to be perfectly aligned, it is important to learn how to adjust the shades at the bottom rail so that they hang correctly.  No worries, because making the perfect fit is for these types of shades is simple and easy.

Tools recommended:

•   Needle nosed pliers

•   pencil

Instructions

•   First you will need to find the ferrule which keeps the cord from sliding up into the shade.  The ferrule is located on the underside of the shade’s bottom rail.  The ferrule is a small slider settled inside a pocket.  

•   Dislodge the ferrule from the pocket by pulling the cord that extends out from the pocket. If you have difficulty gripping the cord you can use the needle nose pliers.

•   Next use the pencil to mark the position of where the blind cord wraps around the ferrule to secure it. 

•   Now loosen the loop in the cord in order to move the ferrule towards the pocket or away from the pocket.

•   Now make the shade’s bottom rail a perfect fit by either moving the ferrule towards the pocket to raise the shade’s bottom rail or moving the ferrule away from the pocket to lower the shade’s bottom rail. 

•  When you are satisfied with the appearance of the shade settle the ferrule back in the pocket of the shade’s bottom rail.

•   Trim or tape any excess cord below the ferrule.  Taping allows for future readjustments.

Tips

If the ferrule accidentally slides off the cord completely you will need to thread the cord from the tapered edge.  Reinsert the cord, loop it around, and pull it tight so that it is positioned in the channel on the ferrule’s side.
